Pastor Greg, as he prefers to be called, was born in Hagerstown, Maryland and has been a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) his entire life. He is considered a “second-career” Minister; earning his Master of Divinity degree from Lexington Theological Seminary. He is recognized as having “standing” with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Pastor Greg’s life experience enhances his ministry to all ages. He started a business a business at 20 years of age; Ott’s Horticulture Center, after earning Horticulture degree and later a Business degree. He was self-employed for 18 years before going into Seminary. He is the father of three adult children, has experienced divorce late in his first marriage, and is currently married to Debbie Ott. Between the two, they have 5 adult children and 2 grandchildren. Life is busy and filled with new adventures everyday. They enjoy gardening together and creating new areas to watch Creation thrive.
His “call” into ministry was affirmed at the closing worship service during a weeklong church camp with teenagers. Entering Seminary at 37 years of age, Pastor Greg is considered to be a “second-career” minister. His passions in ministry include: youth (specialize in teens), leading church retreat and conference programs, Men's ministry, and creative ministries for the future to further God’s Kingdom. He is very active in ecumenical relationships and ministries with other Christian and Faith organizations; understanding that reconciling with God, through Jesus Christ is not limited to one denomination or faith tradition. He is passionate about justice issues, mental health awareness and struggles identified within the mental health field (i.e. PTSD, Moral Injury, bullying, etc.) and he is very community and worldly mindful about Outreach and Mission work.
(Personal note: I have a personal commitment to reach out to those who have hurt by the Church ~ any Church. If you are one of those who has been brushed-off or pushed aside, I would love to connect with you and see how God is active in your life. Together, one day at a time, we can make this world God created for all living creatures something “good” again. May Peace and Grace be with you, Pastor Greg)
